Sue McLearie

Foxy

Look closely and you will discover that I use no paint on my sculptures, they are all finished with a ’skin’ of torn coloured papers.
These small pieces of colour have been gleaned from hundreds of Sunday supplement magazines and make each piece unique.

After years of painting animals I wanted to create them in 3D somehow and siting a kiln for firing clay wasn't really an option.
I started to play with some old garden wire from the garden, experimented with shapes and in a few weeks created a Hare. I sold the experimental sculpture at the Marwell Zoo exhibition in 2008 and from that, my enthusiasm for this idea just grew.

I wanted to add a 'skin' to the next one and following a weekend of tuition in Paper mache, I kept refining my technique until it evolved into these original creature creations. Every sculpture is unique, even a commission of the same animal can never be exactly the same and they always make me smile.
I hope they make you smile too.

I still paint occasionally and have started to reproduce some of my smaller works on decals & stickers for the home and garden and also have personalised drawings available to buy in the PAWS shop.

The amazing stories and photos from customers telling of Monty's (mouse sticker) travels around the Globe have been absolutely wonderful!

Best wishes, Sue

All of my wall art can be purchased from my on line Paws shop (see below Biography in the main menu) and my sculptures are listed there for sale once completed.
